The smart plug includes a single button on the front of the unit for manual on/off control. It can also be paired with a Lutron Caseta Pico remote, which can be used handheld or wall-mounted for convenient control.
Using the Lutron Caseta app on a smartphone or tablet, the plug can be turned on and off remotely or scheduled to run automatically. Scheduling is especially useful for applications like pumps, outdoor lighting, or seasonal equipment.
Real-World Use: Hot Water Circulation Pump
Setup took just a few minutes, including adding the plug to the Caseta app. I am using it to control a hot water circulation pump that I only want running at specific times of the day.
When active, the pump provides near-instant hot water at fixtures, making it ideal for morning showers and evening use. The smart plug allows the pump to remain off for most of the day, significantly reducing unnecessary energy use while still delivering comfort when needed.
